      The purpose for establishing a Dads United to Keep Our Children In School (DUKOCIS) Program for African-American young males in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is to help prepare them for responsible decision-making (manhood) and quality leadership. This mission starts with keeping our African-American males in school. It is a program designed to train them to become more responsible, confident, mature, disciplined, and productive young men who will develop a strong concept of their "role" as African­ American males. It is designed to help bridge the gap between the transitional phases from adolescence to manhood (adulthood). It is a way of equipping African-American males that will better prepare them gain knowledge and have positive experiences that will better prepare them socially, spiritually, culturally, physically, mentally, and academically for the future. This program is an attempt to focus on the total development of the African American male as he interacts with the environment in which he is surrounded.

     It is a way of equipping African-American males in ways  that will better prepare them to gain knowledge and have positive experiences that will better prepare them socially, spiritually, culturally, physically, mentally and academically for the future.

     Throughout the year, the young African-American males will be preparing for manhood, while being introduced to a variety of interest areas to stimulate their growth and development. These include the following subject matters:

  1. African and African American History
  2. Self Esteem Development
  3. Community Involvement
  4. Family Responsibilities
  5. Physical Development
  6. Career Exploration
  7. Sex Education
  8. Economics
  9. Spirituality
  10. Politics

The Dads United to Keep Our Children In School (DUKOCIS) Program is a means by which African American males can be motivated to maximize their fullest potential. The program has the capacity to create an environment where self confidence, self identity and the ability to make wise and responsible choices are strengthened.
