OVERVIEW: HOW TO DELIVER WINNING ANSWERS TO QUESTIONS

Answers to questions are not complex. However, they vary greatly, depending upon the questions, as well as those answering and listening. Each person who wins with an answer develops his or her own techniques. However, all winning answers include two basic elements:
1. The stressing of explicit details over sparkling generalities;
2. The use of a positive vocabulary.
Many people who answer questions and who are totally familiar with the subject of the question, nevertheless lose because they assume the listeners are as familiar with the subject as they. Therefore, they overlook giving the explicit details which explain their answer. They don't cause their listeners to pictorially visualize their answer. Certainly were the listener as concerned with the answer as the talker, perhaps she or he could figure out the details, but this is the job of the person answering the question.
For each explicit detail with which an answer is supported, the answerer can depend on scores being added to the score card.
There is a standard principle followed in my business as well as in my home. If an employee or any member of my family can provide me with more reasons why something should be done than why it should not, the person wins. However, I have never lost. I always present a host of EXPLICIT DETAILS to support my point of view as opposed to a bunch of SPARKLING GENERALITIES. Then I use my natural creativity to place the explicit details in an attractive package--and win.
